STRA’s very own Jackie Heavey opened her home to Sudbury residents for an afternoon of summery sophistication at her Vintage Tea Party on Saturday, 24th June.
Over fifty people, including Brent councillors Mary Daly and Keith Perrin, turned out to enjoy tea, cake, wine and prosecco in aid of STRA and Alzheimer’s Research UK. The afternoon was a huge success and Jackie’s long-awaited Vintage Tea Party managed to raise a grand total of £702, of which £302 will be set aside for STRA, while the remaining £400 will be donated to Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Jackie decided to organise the event to raise funds in support of Alzheimer’s research because a friend’s husband was diagnosed with the disease twelve years ago, at just 50 years old.
Jackie would like to thank everyone who was kind enough to donate prizes for the raffle, as well as her family, without whom, she says, the event would not have been possible. Jackie extends particular thanks to her husband, Joe, her sister and brother-in-law, Wendy and Steve, and her other sister, Lorraine, who helped to set up the tables, bake the cakes, make the tea and sandwiches and ensure no guest was left without a drink.
