On Saturday 9th December, STRA’s Sudbury Arts Events welcomed to perform its 2017 Christmas show, ‘Tis the Season, which took place at St Andrew's Church, 965 Harrow Road, Sudbury, Wembley. Complete with mulled wine, mince pies, canapés and champagne, it was splendid start to the festive season in Sudbury as the community gathered to support St Luke’s Hospice, a fantastic local charity.
The show by Diva Opera reunites internationally renowned artists who donned fabulous period costumes that brought the dazzle and magic of the big stage to Sudbury as they performed much-loved arias and carols for an intimate and amusing evening.
Amongst those in attendance were the Mayor of Brent, Councillor Bhagwanji Chohan, the Leader of Brent Council, Councillor Muhammed Butt and three local councillors – Mary Daley, Ruth Moher and Keith Perrin.
Once again, the Brent Police Cadts were on duty all evening helping Christine Harvey and Jean Peacock, the organisers of the event. It is an inspiration to see young people with such enthusiasm; they loved the show and have already expressed a desire to help out again next year.
Councillor Mary Daly, who is a great supporter of this Sudbury Arts Events event, said "St Luke's is a charity that gives a huge amount to this community, as do STRA, improving the quality of life for those most in need.
“The whole evening was a high quality experience with plenty of sparkle – a great start to the festive season. We’re all looking forward to next year’s performance, which I’m told will be on the 8th of December 2018.”
