Bharat Tharkrar - Founder of Poverty Pound

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak about my new charity on your platform.

From the moment we spoke, I knew just how great you were and can see from the weekly live feeds how passionate you are about what you do. You want to give individuals like myself a platform to speak about what we are doing in society.

It has been great to see your work going from strength to strength and to see an array of talent on your platform.

Wishing you continued success.

Thank you Dimple!

GREENING OF SUDBURY

The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has announced £1 million in ‘Green Grants’ to improve air quality.

Trees and plants play an essential part in reducing London’s dangerously polluted air, as well as being a vital part of our landscape.

Martin Page, Principal Landscape Architect Brent Council, invited STRA to participate in this very exciting ‘Greening’ Project. The grant will be match-funded by Brent Council. Community grants of between £5,000 and £50,000 are available. Martin will be submitting the application to City Hall before 29 September 2017.

On Saturday, 26 August 2017, STRA members met on Butlers Green – under the now-famous Red Tent – and pinpointed locations that the community feels are in need of ‘greening’.

Enthusiastic STRA members identified several sites that could benefit from the scheme. Listed below are a few of the highlights:

·       Planters adjacent to the railway bridge each side of Harrow Road

·       Butlers Green roundabout

·       Station Approach

·       Green patch outside Keelers Korner garage

·       The kerb from Maybank to the end of Harrow Road (in the direction of Greenford)

·       Disused tennis court between Compton Avenue and Vale Farm

·       Butlers Green area around the abandoned toilets

·       Sudbury and Harrow Road station entrance

We will keep you informed of further developments.
